WRITER RESOURCES

STEP 1: Think of something clever

Decide on your niche. Research a little. Read in that genre and familiarize yourself with the reader expectations. Jot down some story ideas.

Have one you want to run with? Great!

Time to Outline. I know, ugh. But do it. Just give it a try, even if you are a Pantser.

Here are a few great resources for Brainstorming + Outlining:

STEP 2: Start writing your tuckus off

Read, write, learn

I would recommend signing up for Mark Dawson's Self-Publishing 101 course, but it looks like it's currently on a waitlist (though that could always change).

Poke around this site as a starting point. They have a pretty interesting podcast: https://selfpublishingformula.com/

Sign up for the Waitlist herehttps://selfpublishingformula.com/101

I also really like these guys: https://sterlingandstone.net/

Look around their website, listen to their podcast, &/or consider getting one of their books. They may have a course, but I'm not sure.  I've learned some valuable info from them. I like Mark's course as a step-by-step to walk you through, but these guys may have something similar.

You do not need a course or these guys to get your book underway. They are just helpful, but I am telling you what step 1 is for free! So your first course has begun... :)

STEP 3: Stay the course

Once you have your first book, you can start to build an author platform.

Build your mailing list:

I currently use Mailerlite, but used Mailchimp in the past. Both are great.

Join one or join many. Just find a place to start and focus your attention there. Then, as you find your groove, expand.
